Two Soviet Union communes are arguing over who gets to take over some farmland that was abandoned by the Nazi’s retreat in this play within a play. One of the communes organizes a skit, based on an old folk tale to cast light on the situation. A singer and his musicians proceed to tell a tale of an evil prince who plans to overthrow the governor.
