Venus in Fur: presented by the Rough Magic SEEDS.

Thomas has auditioned every incompetent actress in New York City. Vanda is hours late, drenched from a thunderstorm and definitely wrong for the part. Yet somehow she persuades him to give her a chance that sets off the audition of a lifetime. Blurring the line between real life and 19th-century high drama, Venus in Fur is a psychosexual comedy that flips the classic battle of the sexes on its head.

Starring Peter Coonan and Sarah Morris, Rough Magic SEEDS present David Ives’ powerhouse drama, delivered by a bold new generation of theatre makers.

Project Arts Centre 5th – 8th February
As part of the SEEDS Showcase, we will also present a rehearsed reading of SEEDS Playwright Ciara Elizabeth Smyth’s Irishtown. Friday 7th February.

Since 2001, Rough Magic has been the pioneer of artist development in Irish theatre, through its SEEDS programme for emerging artists. Based on mentoring, research and creative engagement, SEEDS has been Ireland’s premiere development programme for the past 21 years. Graduates of the programme have gone on to make a significant contribution to the professional theatre sector. Participants are given access to desk space with the company, offered mentorship from the Rough Magic artistic team, support for their own independent projects and employment as fully paid apprentices on at least one Rough Magic production.
